David is a qualified local optometrist and behavioural optometrist with 30 years experience in the field, many of which have been here in Canberra. David undertook a Bachelor of Optometry degree, studying at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) before working in rural Victoria and NSW for close to 10 years. During his past 20 years in Canberra, David has completed a Master of Optometry degree through the UNSW. A large component of this study covered children’s vision development and learning difficulties and David continues to specialise in this area.

 

In 2011 David started ANU Eyecare with the aim of providing the Canberra community with the highest level of service, quality and care in optics. ANU Eyecare has become a platform for David to provide service across all areas of optometry, with specialisations in contact lenses (multifocal, rigid gas permeable, difficult conditions), myopia control and reduction, vision training, colour vision, visual neuroplasticity and dry eyes. At ANU Eyecare, David also practises behavioural optometry, involving the testing and developing of programs for children with vision and learning difficulties to maximise their social, academic and visual potential.

David believes optometry is about helping people find what is best in their eyes. He sees people as individuals rather than an optical average. David’s passion is to provide the highest level of optical service and treatment that is individualised, quality, professional, knowledgeable and caring.
